PROJECT: Sapphire Coast Tourism Support Program

About Sapphire Coast Destination Marketing:

Sapphire Coast Destination Marketing is the peak tourism body for the Bega Valley Shire, delivering destination management services under contract to the Bega Valley Shire Council.

Tourism services under this contract cover two distinct areas.  The provision of tourism office responsibilities to interface with local, state and federal industry stakeholders and also the planning and implementation of destination promotional activities during visitation to the region. 

Project Outline: 

This Sapphire Coast Tourism Support Program project will increase the attractiveness of the Sapphire Coast as a tourist destination through improved marketing, promotion and industry development initiatives. 

The scope of the Activity is across the whole of the tourism sector within the Sapphire Coast tourism region – the Bega Valley Shire. 

This project is an initiative of Bega Valley Shire Council and is proudly funded by the NSW Government

Industry Development:

The key component is an intensive industry development program designed to increase the skills and professionalism of the Sapphire Coast tourism sector, and consequently the region’s competitiveness as a destination. 

Tourism operators will be assisted through a program of innovation and business development to meet the needs of visitors and effectively grow the products, and improve the experience deliver offered by their business. Skills development will be practical and designed to meet the needs of specific markets with high growth potential. 

This will be achieved through a number of methods including group skills and training sessions, and small group and one on one mentoring.

Group Skills and Training session (masterclasses):

Masterclasses, delivered by sector specialists, designed to upskill participants on the areas of opportunity for tourism growth in the region, including but not limited to:

• Tourism Marketing and Promotion 
• Tourism Product Distribution 
• Cultural Tourism 
• Accessible Tourism
• Tourism events 
• Indigenous Tourism
• Tourism Experience Development 
• Cruise Tourism

Mentoring:

One-on-one and small group mentoring will provide direct and intensive assistance to selected businesses and support them through a practical program specifically tailored to their business goals and requirements previously identified. Mentoring streams will mirror the masterclass program.

Sapphire Coast Destination Marketing is seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified individuals/consultants and/or businesses to provide services to assist in the delivery of both the mentoring and masterclass programs.

This may include companies providing full-service delivery of the masterclass component of the program and/or professional services/consulting to support the Mentoring program.

Sapphire Coast/Bega Valley businesses, and qualified individuals, are encouraged to submit an EOI.

• Estimated fixed price and proposal to deliver a nominated masterclass

Key Personal:

Provide information on any proposed consultant’s and proposed sub-consultants’, including name and title, qualifications and recent relevant experience.

 
Successful Applicants: 

Successful mentoring applicants will be included in an approved supplier list and will be invited to provide mentoring services, with further details to be negotiated on an ongoing basis throughout the program.

Applicants proposing full-service delivery of masterclasses and/or mentoring programs will be invited to enter negotiation to develop a detailed proposal for services.

Successful applicants will be required to provide:

1. Public liability insurance: $20,000,000 
2. Professional indemnity insurance: $2,000,000
